Peke Waihanga is New Zealand's national provider of prosthetic, orthotic and rehabilitation services. We support the people we care for to achieve their goals and live independent and productive through expert clinical care and innovative solutions.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Team Lead to join our Dunedin team.

We're open to shaping this role around the right person. You may be:

  • An experienced people leader who wants to focus primarily on leadership and operational support (approximately 0.6 FTE); or
  • An experienced Clinical Orthotist who would like to combine clinical practice with team leadership responsibilities.

Job Description

About the role

As Team Lead, you'll provide local leadership and support to our Dunedin team while working closely with the Southern Regional Manager and clinical leaders across the organisation.

You'll help create a positive, high-performing team environment, support service delivery, and ensure our patients continue to receive excellent care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to team members.
  • Supporting staff wellbeing, development and engagement.
  • Helping coordinate workloads, resources and service delivery.
  • Building strong relationships across clinical, rehabilitation and service coordination teams.
  • Leading local initiatives and supporting organisational priorities.
  • Contributing to service improvement and quality outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with leaders across the Southern Region.
  • For clinical applicants, maintaining a clinical caseload alongside leadership responsibilities.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You will be a confident, approachable and hands on leader who has a genuine desire to understand our service and support your team to succeed.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Proven leadership experience or the skills, capability and motivation to lead a team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to balance operational priorities while maintaining a positive team culture.
  • A clinical background is advantageous but not essential

If applying as a clinician, you'll also have significant clinical experience and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
