Peke Waihanga is looking for a dedicated Peer Support Coordinator to join our team and help deliver a high‑quality national Peer Support Service for our patients and their whanau.

About the Role

As our Peer Support Coordinator, you’ll play a central role in connecting parents of people with cerebral palsy and scoliosis with trained Peer Support Volunteers. You will coordinate referrals, support volunteers, maintain systems and processes, and help promote and strengthen our Peer Support Service nationally.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all Peer Support requests and match individuals with appropriate Peer Support Volunteers
  • Recruit, train, support, and monitor Peer Support Volunteers across the country
  • Maintain accurate volunteer and service records, including contracts, training, police checks and expenses
  • Work with the Peer Support & Events Coordinator to plan and deliver training (including travel as required)
  • Promote the Peer Support Service internally and externally, including contributing to promotional material
  • Maintain and improve administrative systems to support efficient service delivery
  • Support quality assurance, monthly reporting, and service evaluation
  • Ensure the service is delivered in a way that is culturally responsive and aligned with the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Help reduce barriers to accessing support and ensure equitable pathways for our patients

Experience

  • Experience coordinating or supporting volunteers, including recruitment
  • Strong administration experience
  • Experience working with volunteer or client information systems

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of peer support principles
  • Ability to build effective relationships with patients, volunteers, health providers, and internal teams
  • Strong communication, organisation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work to timelines
  • Problem‑solving ability and a mindset that embraces innovation
