Job Description

We’re looking for a part time Learning and Development Advisor to be based in our National Office in central Wellington. This new position will support the professional growth and capability of Peke Waihanga’ diverse workforce by championing learning solutions that support staff engagement, retention, and performance, ensuring that staff have access to high-quality training opportunities that are aligned with our strategic goals.

This is a newly created position within our People and Communications Team and will have a key role in fostering a culture of continuous learning, supporting workforce development, and ensuring compliance with relevant training standards and competencies. We anticipate the role will be around 3 days per week, however are flexible to arrange work hours that suit you.

As Learning and Development Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with managers and team leaders to identify training needs across disciplines.
  • Supporting the HR and Communications Manager to create bespoke, inhouse training programmes.
  • Developing and implementing an annual training calendar
  • Ensuring alignment of training initiatives with organisational goals, workforce development strategy, and clinical competency frameworks.
  • Organising and coordinating internal and external training programmes, workshops, and other professional development opportunities
  • Maximising the use of our HR software to create high quality training content across eLearning, video, face-to-face and self-directed formats.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring that training is well-coordinated and aligned with Peke Waihanga training needs and priorities
  • Acting as a key contact for learning and development queries, guiding staff to appropriate resources and pathways.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes through feedback, performance data, and service outcomes.
  • Supporting the development of resources and frameworks for reflective practice and peer learning.
  • Keeping up to date with learning and development trends, tools, and regulatory requirements in healthcare.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic L & D professional who is passionate about providing engaging, relevant and high quality learning opportunities for staff at all levels across our organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience coordinating learning and development in a multidisciplinary or healthcare environment.
  • Experience with training coordination and the development of training programmes and resources
  • Experience using learning management systems or Human Resources Information Systems is desirable.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solutions focused.
  • Excellent self-management skills, including working effectively without direct supervision.
  • Strong organisational ability to optimise and prioritise conflicting demands in a busy environment.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast paced and changing environment. You will need to be proactive with the ability to use your initiative and identify areas where Peke Waihanga can improve our training programmes.

Experience working in the health sector or not for profit agencies would be beneficial, though not essential.
